How PRP Can Enhance Your Microneedling Treatment
If you’re ready to turn back the clock and erase unsightly signs of aging from your skin, microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) may be just what the doctor ordered. Microneedling specialist Andrea C. Beavers, PA-C and our knowledgeable team at Star Treatment Healthcare Services and Med Spa offer PRP enhanced microneedling at our state-of-the-art facility to increase collagen production for better-looking skin.
Compare microneedling with and without PRP
One study contrasting the benefits of microneedling with and without platelet-rich plasma (PRP) showed microneedling with platelet-rich plasma improved acne scars by 62.20% versus only 45.84% when performed without PRP. That’s why we incorporate PRP into your microneedling treatment to better stimulate collagen production and reduce signs of aging.
Mrs. Beavers begins by drawing a blood sample to retrieve your PRP. She then:
- Cleanses your skin
- Applies a numbing lotion
- Rolls a special tool containing fine needles over your face
- Creates micro-wounds on your skin’s surface
Mrs. Beavers then massages the PRP into your skin to enhance your treatment.
Benefits of PRP
PRP utilizes the solid portion of the blood, known as platelets, rather than the liquid. These platelets assist clotting to improve healing. They incorporate:
- Proteins containing growth factors and pro-inflammatory cytokines
- Growth factors to assist with regeneration
- Cytokines, small proteins that impact our immune system and blood cells
Mrs. Beavers uses microneedling with PRP to boost your skin’s overall appearance.
Microneedling with PRP
Microneedling with PRP improves:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Hyperpigmentation
- Sun damage
- Acne scars, and more
Since your skin’s healing mechanism kicks in immediately following each treatment, you’ll notice improvements right away. We generally recommend several follow-up treatments, spaced a few weeks apart, to reap the full benefits.
Before and after treatment
Mrs. Beavers discusses the entire process with you, including the following suggestions
